Bread and Wine Symbolizes Jesus Himself

What does the Bread and Wind Symbolizes?

“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.” (1 Corinthians 11:26 KJV)

Bread and Wine, in scripture, are physical forms of food and drink that possess a spiritual meaning. This is made clear from the way Jesus refers to the Bread and Wine.

It is known that Jesus uses his body and blood synonymously with the symbolic Bread and Wine, as earlier in this chapter, it is written: “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Additionally, in Mark 14:24, it is written:  “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many” Here, Jesus is holding up a cup of wine, making the symbolism between his blood and wine perfectly clear. He does the same when pertaining to his body as the bread shared among he and the apostles.

That said, it is clear that the Bread and Wine as referenced in the Bible, actually pertains to Christ’s body and blood. Bread and Wine symbolizes Jesus himself.
